Welcome, blog post one

steamrail-workshops-2

Welcome to my blog (it is finally done enough to launch). I am a little bit obsessed with photography and have been taking photos since I was in high school in the 1980s. I have lots of slides, negatives, prints and digital files that until now, have not really been seen by anyone other than me. I also continue to add to add to that collection. Photos can be shared on social media platforms like Flickr and Instagram, and I do, but this site and this blog is really about me enjoying creating and curating my own virtual exhibition each time I make a new post. If someone else stumbles on it and happens to like what I am creating or if my thoughts on why I am shooting what I am shooting strike a chord then that is a bonus. Essentially though this is my space (that sounds so early 2000s doesn't it?).

That is my current self rationale for building the site. I have been kicking around the general idea of starting a blog on photography for a long time so finally I have made a start and I can add features and functionality as I go and as I see what I enjoy most exhibiting and writing about. The initial features are done. The three most recent posts feature on the home page, all the blog posts are accessible from the blog menu item and I can create image galleries for when I want to do a mini show of related photos. Subject matter for blog posts will mainly be about the photos, I am not a world traveler so most shots will be very local to where I live or where I lived at the time when they were taken. There will be a bit of content about shooting film because that is sort of my thing.

The photos above were taken at Steamrail Victoria open day in 2020 before covid hit us. The film was Arista Premium 100 which is now very expired and Dev was D76 1:1.

I put in some more photos which are just random ones that I like. This is all about the photos of course.

That's it for post one. Back soon with more thoughts and photos.
