Back with part six. This series shows images from my trip to Sydney in Feb. In case you missed the enthralling story to this point, you can find part one here, part two here, part three here, part four here and part five here.

So the final stop on the road trip back to Melbourne was Lakes Entrance in Victoria. It is still a fishing town, although there did seem to be less boats in the harbour area than I have seen in past visits. So after a dinner of fish and chips, I was off for a wander around to see what looked interesting. This roll was Kodak Portra 400 which does have really nice tight grain for a 400 film and seems to handle long exposures pretty well.

I was shooting on the F3 which is supposed to auto meter long exposures well, so I tried a couple on auto. It did pretty well in these first two shots but as it got darker and the exposure times got longer I was a little bit concerned that it wasn't allowing anything for reciprocity failure and went back to my old fail-safe technique of overexposing and trusting the neg film to deal with a little bit extra. It always copes.

Once it got really dark though, the exposure time became so long that I ended up not happy with the amount of movement in the boats in most of the shots so they didn't make the cut. I do find it quite relaxing, standing around for a couple of minutes to take a photo, even when they don't turn out as you imagine. Here are a couple more that are sort of OK.

So that will do for this post and for this series. I have been shooting a bit and as I write this I have two rolls that I just developed and scanned, six rolls to process and another one in the camera most of the way through, so there will be no shortage of posts as I get to them. Also I want to gradually add some older shots as well.

Back with more thoughts and images soon.
