Are you a car person as well as a photo person? What is the worlds coolest car? It is a really individual question. For me, a 70's 911 maybe? Another car I always fancied was an XB coupe (a John Goss special please), yeah but nah, my budget doesn't stretch that far. If you are a cruising car person then a 57 Chev is probably somewhere on your list.
These photos are from a photo session I did last year of a friend's 57. It is a reasonably rare Australian delivered right hand drive 210 sedan. Belair trims were added later. Unusually these days it retains the original six cylinder motor with a three speed manual column shift trans.
It has been with its owner for a long, long time. Al has always been cool, and bought all the cool stuff long before the rest of the world realised it was cool and NO, it is NOT FOR SALE.
Photographing an old car like this is really a pleasure. I like to get out of suburbia though to be away from the more modern cars. It is also quite appropriate to use some old gear to photograph it with. In this case, the Nikon F is a bit of a baby being just a 64 model but it sure is nice to drive.
Doing this with film photos creates a bit of mystery, 'How old is this photo?'.
