Here are some stories about my art photography. Most of these stories are about film based photos, primarily because I love the look and that I get with film. I also love the experience of shooting, developing and holding the film up to the light to previsualise how the finished image will look. Additionally, I like the way that shooting film feels like a different process to the photos I take for work. Digital photography has taken over for a reason, the quality, detail and level of light you can work in and create great shots is magic, but digital photography is magic like smart phones and the internet. Things that you just accept as here and working but only have a vague five minute understanding of. Film is magic because even though I have a good understanding of the technical process of manufacturing film, I know how to develop and have worked in labs processing film for other photographers, I am still amazed every time I pull a freshly developed roll off the spiral and hang it up to dry. That is magic.

Back in January when I started this blog, I posted about photos I took at Corner Inlet and said that I would be back with more photos from that trip soon. Well, soon is a somewhat relative concept I guess but today I am back with some more photos. If you like, you can read the first installment h...

I recently posted about making more effort to take a camera with me on local trips, and, to actually stop and get out and take some photos. Well it looks like this is the start of a series of local photos posts because I have actually been out shooting in my area. Here is a series of photos of an...

In May my brother came down from Sydney for a visit. We went camping but he had a couple of days in Melbourne beforehand to check out the sights. I jumped a V-line down to Melbourne and spent one of the days wandering around with him, checking out the sites, and taking some photos of course. One o...

As I have not been on any significant trips anywhere lately, I have been making an effort to shoot more around my local area. It is something that I quite often ignore a little bit, or I will sometimes think that something would make an interesting photo but I don't have my camera with me. It is p...

Back in the car and headed south we stopped at Central Tilba a very tidy li...

Well, back with part two of the trip to Sydney. Part one of this series is here if you missed it. Here are some more shots taken on FP4 Plus. These are developed in HC-110 which is what I have been using lately. I am pretty happy with the results. As a sort of incidental I am using a funny dilut...

In February I managed to get away to Sydney for a couple of nights with some mates who I have been hanging out with since the nineties. Apart form the enjoyment of getting some time with friends in a different place, time away from the day to day routine also means time to take some photos.

While Son Two was at footy training the other day I had a wander around with camera to see if there was anything interesting.

Just across from the footy ground there was an old workshop which is clearly fated for demolition and having the site redeveloped. I am not really extra perceptive, it j...

At the start of 2022 we managed to get a week away at Yanakie in South Gippsland. Holidays always mean a bit of free time to do some photography. These photos are from a short walk which starts at the caravan park and goes to Duck Point.

I have shot them with a Nikon F and the PC Nikkor 1:2.8 3...
